Weekly Passage

This week's passage is actually just last week's passage repeated...it was a long passage and I am trying to somewhat memorize them, so I gave myself another week of reviewing those verses. Those verses are Proverbs 8-19. Please click on the link above if you would like to review the verses!

Did you know...

Did you know that on this day in the year 1288 "Scotland established this day as one when a woman could propose marriage to a man. In the event that he refused the proposal he was required to pay a fine"?*

There is a random fact for you. You're welcome.

Jackson Update

Jackson is as cute as ever...but we have no pictures because our camera is still getting fixed. (Best Buy...please call!) He is sleeping right now. I actually was able to put him to sleep at 9:30pm. I thinks thats the earliest he has gone down. Now, I know what you are thinking...Why isn't she in bed while he is sleeping?!? Well, my hubby is teaching his last class at CBU tonight and he is getting home around 10:45pm...so I am waiting up for him!

Anyways...back to Jackson! He is getting bigger, of course, as babies do! He also has found his feet and he is responding to tickles with giggles. He has also started to show affection like nuzzling into me when he gets bashful or overwhelmed with other people and he snuggles onto my shoulder when he is getting tired. I absolutely love it! He also has started to get very attached to me. At times he gets scared if he is with someone else and can't see me. I must admit, it makes his mommy feel very special! :)

As far as sleeping through the night goes, I'm not sure if I remember what that was like. Jackson has gone back to feeding at least twice during the night. Oh-well! He is a growing boy! As soon as we get our camera back, I promise I'll get a picture of that growing boy up here!

Weekly Passage

This is a little late, but better late than never!!! I am continuing in Proverbs 1:8-19. I find it no coincidence that this passage really relates to the verses in Micah just put in the post below. Isn't it funny how sometimes God just brings these similar passages out of two completely different books to your attention?

The Enticement of Sinners

8 Hear, my son, your father's instruction,
and forsake not your mother's teaching,
9 for they are a graceful garland for your head
and pendants for your neck.
10 My son, if sinners entice you,
do not consent.
11 If they say, “Come with us, let us lie in wait for blood;
let us ambush the innocent without reason;
12 like Sheol let us swallow them alive,
and whole, like those who go down to the pit;
13 we shall find all precious goods,
we shall fill our houses with plunder;
14 throw in your lot among us;
we will all have one purse”—
15 my son, do not walk in the way with them;
hold back your foot from their paths,
16 for their feet run to evil,
and they make haste to shed blood.
17 For in vain is a net spread
in the sight of any bird,
18 but these men lie in wait for their own blood;
they set an ambush for their own lives.
19 Such are the ways of everyone who is greedy for unjust gain;
it takes away the life of its possessors.

A good reason to approve my comments...

On the previous post, I noticed a comment from someone I didn't know of, which isn't weird because a lot of people are reading my blog now that I don't know (i.e. I don't know their blogger name). So, being oblivious to the sinful world we live in, I clicked on a link in the comment only to bring me to a "Free Porn Site." Of course, the content of the link wasn't obvious. If anyone clicked on this link on my blog, I am extremely sorry. I now approve the comments on my blog and have set the comments to word verification (to help eliminate spam). Oh! Sometimes I wish I wasn't so naive! Troy reminded me of the fact that men do lie in wait to trap others in sin. As Micah 7:2-3 says,
"The godly has perished from the earth,
and there is no one upright among mankind;
they all lie in wait for blood,
and each hunts the other with a net.
Their hands are on what is evil, to do it well;
the prince and the judge ask for a bribe,
and the great man utters the evil desire of his soul;
thus they weave it together."
Let's just say I learned my lesson!

14 weeks ago!

It has been 14 weeks today since I gave birth to my beautiful baby boy! I never imagined how much I would love him---and just how much I love watching him grow! Just these past few days, he has become a lot more verbal (he is giong to be very social...just like his daddy!) and he is grabbing everything and putting everything in his mouth. Just the other day, he took a cookie right out of his daddy's hand!

Good Eats

Troy found a gem in the Canyon Springs (60/215 freeways) shopping center in Moreno Valley (err...I mean Riverside. It should be considered Moreno Valley.) This gem is called Jason's Deli..hence the logo at the top of this blog! I ordered the half beef dip sandwich (easy mayo...to be healthy) and Baked Lay's with the salad bar. I must say that their salad bar was impressive and the sandwich was wonderful! All that food was only $7.99! I look forward to eating there again! Apparently, Jason's is in a lot of other states, so they seem to be doing good business. Oh..and another thing...they have Dublin Dr. Pepper on tap there. If you like Dr. Pepper, you should know what that is, but, if you don't its Dr. Pepper made only in Dublin, Texas with pure cane sugar. Thats something special! So...what are you waiting for?!? Go try this place out! Its in the shopping center across from Hooters...I HATE that I am using that as a reference!

Weekly Passage

In order to challenge me to memorize scripture more often, I'm going to post a passage at the beginning of each week to remind myself to continually read that certain passage throughout the week. I'm starting in Proverbs. Feel free to join me in this effort and read along!
This week's passage is Proverbs 1:1-7.

The Beginning of Knowledge

1:1 The proverbs of Solomon, son of David, king of Israel:

2 To know wisdom and instruction,
to understand words of insight,
3 to receive instruction in wise dealing,
in righteousness, justice, and equity;
4 to give prudence to the simple,
knowledge and discretion to the youth—
5 Let the wise hear and increase in learning,
and the one who understands obtain guidance,
6 to understand a proverb and a saying,
the words of the wise and their riddles.

7 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge;
fools despise wisdom and instruction.

*I love verse 7...its a good reminder to seek after (and not to ignore, neglect, despise) wisdom and instruction.

Three Months!

Jackson turned three months old a few days ago! I can't believe it! That was the fastest three months of my life! He becomes more and more precious to Troy and I everyday. He has started to laugh at more things and he smiles all the time. He also loves to coo. It is such a joy to watch him grow. In the picture below (another bad cell phone pic...we need to get our camera fixed!), he is exploring the jumper we bought him. Everyday he discovers something new on it to be intrigued with! It is just too cute! We love him soooo much!

A Date..Wahoo!

Last Friday night, Troy and I dropped the boy (as we so affectionately call him) off at Troy's parents' house and headed to The Crossings for dinner and a movie. We stopped short of the Crossings when we came across NYPD Restaurant. I hadn't had pizza in a very long time because Jackson was a bit sensitive to it. I decided to go for it again! If you don't know about NYPD (New your PIZZA Department), let me tell you...it is sooo good! The pizza is served New York style...big and floppy slices and they have amazing fresh baked bread there with roasted garlic that you spread on it. The owners are from New York, so they know what they are doing! If you haven't tried it yet, I recommend it!
After stuffing ourselves with pizza, salad, and bread, we headed to see the movie Juno. We enjoyed Juno's spunky wit and the fact that she didn't abort her baby because "it has fingernails" was nice too. I'm not sure if Juno was the best movie of the year, but it was a good one. We enjoyed it. That's my review.
Following the movie, we headed over the Barnes & Noble to spend a gift card Troy had. He purchased "Bill Cosby, Himself." If you haven't seen this, I recommend it. Bill Cosby is a crack up! I love the part when he is talking about going to the dentist. I also picked up the book Baby Laughs by Jenny McCarthy. So far, besides the bad language every other page, I relate to the book. Anyhoo, the night was fantastic! Although it wasn't our first date since Jackson, it was the first time I felt free! I had so much fun with Troy...I love spending time with him! "He's the cheese to my macaroni." (-Juno)

Mini Jackson Update!

Jackson will be three months this coming week! I can't believe how fast the time has gone! We had quite a few mile stones today. Jackson was in his jumper and started spining one of the toys on it on his own! He had very good hand-eye coordination! Jackson has also started to laugh when he is tickled, but only when he is on his changing table. It's soooo cute! He is getting to be so interactive! I love this boy!

No more Bush-Bashing!

I have to express how tired I am of hearing all the Bush-bashing! I just saw Chelsea Clinton on the news saying how happy the rest of the world will be to see President Bush out of office. The news report followed with Hillary saying "It took a Clinton to clean up after the first Bush, and its going to take another Chilton to clean up after this one." How was Clinton a better president than Bush?!? Bill Clinton cheated on his wife while in office, and not to mention, he initially lied about it!
President Bush has done his job. He has kept our country's safety in his best interest. I would be curious to see how Hillary would have handled the 9/11 attacks, terrorists and Bin Laden...after all, her husband didn't seem to take Bin Laden very seriously. These claims by Hillary and Obama that they will end the war when they get into office are bologna! Getting the soldiers out of Iraq and ending the war is easier said than done. It wouldn't be wise to pull out of Iraq right away. What about those terrorists who consider giving their lives to kill an American an honor? Are they just going to ignore them? Pah-leeze!
I can't stand Hillary Clinton. The Bush-bashing is just plain immature. Hillary seems so prideful, so condescending, so obnoxious, so combative---and America doesn't need someone like that as president.
