Florida Trip - Day 1

Our first day in Miami we went to a Cuban restaurant called Versailles and I ordered what was called the Calle Ocho Sandwich. The Sandwich was made on a delicious Cuban bread with fresh carved ham and turkey, bacon, tomatoes, and lettuce...it was absolutely the best sandwich I've ever had!
After eating at Versailles, we changed and headed over to Tim & Patty's wedding (the reason we went to Florida). It was held at the botanical gardens in Miami Beach. I have to admit, I didn't see the wedding because Jackson got a bit fussy. It was sooo hot and humid and I'm sure that had something to do with it!

At the end of the receiption, Tim and Patty had a pinata that Patty and the kids at the wedding got to swing at...I thought that was a fun idea. And, of course, Tim put a special touch on that Tradition by adding fake stick-on mustaches to the candy mix in the pinata! Everyone was putting them on...that was fun! Jackson even tried one on!
Of course, we got a family photo taken....without the mustaches, though!
At the end of the night, the sparklers came out to bid Tim and Patty farewell. That was the first time I had seen that done since we aren't allowed to do that where we live! It was beautiful! When we were done cleaning up at the reception, a big group of us who flew in from California walked over a couple blocks to the Art Deco area of Miami Beach and we ate a snack at a French bakery/restaurant called Paul. I had the best Mango smoothie there! It tasted like I was drinking a mango! Troy got a tasty raspberry tart. We really enjoyed hanging out with the California folk!

Jackson's Check-up

Jackson had his 2-month check up yesterday. He weighted in at almost 12 1/2 lbs and is now 23" long! The doctor said he is in the 50th percentile for his weight and head, and the 75th percentile for his height. He also commented that he is a very active baby. Although, I am pretty sure that has somewhat to do with the fact that he was in front of a mirror. For some reason, mirrors really intrigue Jackson. He can't keep his eyes off the "other baby" that is moving around so much and he gets really excited!

Jackson also got his first shots...poor thing! The needles were as long as his thigh is wide! I never heard him scream so loud! He is a good sport, though. He got over it really quick!

NEW BLOG!

I've started a new blog that will journal my journey through trying to loose 40 lbs and live a healthier life all together. Feel free to visit me on that journey! Click: Witness My Fitness

2 Months!

Jackson is 2 months old! I can't believe how fast the time has flown by! He is sleeping 6-8 hours a night now for the past week and I managed to get Jackson to sleep at 11:15 last night instead of the time he usually ends up going to sleep...1:00 AM! He is smiling a lot and even almost laughs now. Peek-a-boo is a favorite game of his and he loves to get whispered to in his ear. He also holds his head up really good, he likes to practice standing up, and his eyes seem to be changing to a blue color. Our little baby is growing up! :)

All Clean!

I changed the dirtiest diaper today. I heard Jackson let out what I thought was gas and a minute later he got fussy. Figuring he needed a diaper change, I picked him up only to discover a bit of brown wetness showing through the zip-up blanket he was wearing over his PJs. I proceeded to take the blanket off and I discovered that Jackson's pajama pants were covered. I took that off and his onesie only to find that he was covered from his mid-back all the way down to his feet! He didn't have a bowel movement yesterday. That was the first time that has happened, so I guess he just had to blow! And, boy, did he ever! The picture above is the happy look he had on his face after Mommy cleaned him all up.

Now, I am wondering...do you moms find that Huggies or Pampers leak less? Or, is there a great off-brand I should know about?

My cup of tea!

Troy bought a single-cup beverage maker today. I'm not sure if thats actually what it is called, but that is exactly what the machine does. It will brew a single cup of coffee, tea, or hot chocolate. It is perfect for Troy and I because we only have one cup at a time anyway. It works by putting discs of your favorite beverage in the machine and hot water goes through it and into the cup. I had my first cup of hot chocolate in a mug that my aunt got me for Christmas...the saying is perfect for the experience I am going through right now. Although, I must say, on that subject, Jackson slept through the night last night! He slept from about 12:30am to 7:50am! That is almost 7 1/2 hours!!! That felt AMAZING! I'm not going to get my hopes up for tonight, though. He hasn't developed a pattern yet. Any moms who have advice on how to get a child into a bedtime routine, please do, share! Otherwise, I may need more than one cup of a caffeinated beverage!

Farewell, 2007.

There is just a few moments left of the year 2007. I must say that this year has gone by quicker than any other year of my life. Perhaps it was because it was the first year in a long while that I haven't worked. It could be because I was pregnant from February until November. Maybe its the fact that this year was only 1/23 of my life. Whatever the reason, I find myself wondering where the time has gone. I can't believe that I am a mother of a beautiful baby boy and the wife and a wonderful husband (2 1/2 years!). God has blessed us so much this year. I am reminded of how I don't deserve any of it, and because of that, I am so grateful for it all.

Well, even though it makes me sad to see Dick Clark struggle to do the count down, I'm going to see the ball drop on TV! HAPPY NEW YEAR, everyone!
